I don't have a source for you but I do have lots of clinical experience with steroid users. I can point you in the right direction for sources however. Many orthopedic surgeons especially those in sports medicine deal with the aftermath of steroid abuse. Go to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons website and see if they have any resources there. One of the biggest side effects is you destroy collagen in the tissue fibers of tendons, ligaments and muscles which causes them to tear easy. Another side effect is bone deterioration. The bone becomes brittle and soft with prolonged steroid use. Steroid abuse has also been linked to kidney failure, severe liver damage, abnormal hair growth, tumors, abnormal bone growth (especially the head), depression & mood swings, hair loss (head), gynecomastia (abnormal breast development in men), decrease in libido & testicular disorders.
