Different states and countries have different rules about disclosing the identity of birth parents to adoptees.
What state (if US) or country do you live in?
As a general rule, the only person who can (usually) find out this information is the person who was adopted, so it's unlikely you could learn who your father's birth parents were. He (not you) would have to make the request. Even then, in most states, the information isn't automatically given; usually, the state writes a letter to the birth parents saying that the child they put up for adoption would like to make contact with them. If the birth parent objects, sometimes the child cannot get the information.
Good luck on your search.
