How warm is Florida panhandle weather in October?

I've done the research and everything I find says that Panama City Beach (that's where we're planning to stay) averages around 83 in October with water temps around 77. My question for someone who lives on the panhandle or visits frequently is this... Is PCB in mid October warm enough to be in the pool? At 77 the ocean sounds a little cool, but is it usually warm enough to enjoy a "beach" vacation with pool time? We're hoping to vacation during fall break when rates are much cheaper, but don't want to ruin our vacation by it being too cool. Thanks for the advice in advance!
