Any suggestions on how to remove dried paint and carpet adhesive from wooden floors?

The renters before me did a very terrible job protecting the wood paneled floors and there are speckles of paint everywhere. I found using nail polish remover works, but are there any other (store or homemade) ideas for the larger spots?

Also perhaps the carpet was ripped out improperly, but around the edges of the walls there is a border of carpet glue/adhesive. Any suggestions on how to remove those?

Thanks
