| Consider that Madrid is at quite an altitude and has all the normal capital city charms, Barcelona is, in my opinion a much nicer city to visit but neither can come up to the charms of the andalusian cities Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla. No war has ever resulted in widespread destruction so there is a huge history to be seen. Apart from the cities, best places out and about for me are the Gredos mountains, Grazalema, Salamanca, Segovia. And if you arrive to Spain by car or better still by motorbike off the Santander ferry, the drive to Burgos through the gorges on the old road are just fantastic. |
