Go to a home improvement store like Lowe's or Home Depot, and get color swatches of colors you like and check them out against a dark wood trim - either at your home, or go to the stain isle and they usually have sample boards with different stains. Some stores even have computer programs that let you match colors and trim.

You're very lucky your dark wood has not been painted over yet. Most of the homes in this area already have paint on that beautiful wood trim.
