I am really getting interested in Video taping my dad racing..

I am starting up a Youtube to post my work, but i was wondering what programs or camera i should get. I have a really nice new HP laptop!!!

The one video i have made was on my friends MAC computer, but i want to do it on my own....
Any ideas/help would be awesome!!!
