Abstinence is just part of sex education. I think that teens need all the facts so that they know how to protect themselves from diseases and unwanted pregnancies. Teaching this doesn't condone premarital sex but does at least give teens the information to make good decisions. People aren't saints which means that they succumb to temptation and make mistakes. With better sex education at least if this happens it wont be deadly or result in a life changing event. Not all families are in favor of abstinence and not all parents have religious beliefs that guide their morals. Education is for all the public not just for the religious right. Parents are expected to be the first teachers about morals and values and children will take their teaching into consideration when they are in school.
