Romantic ideals were very prevalent in this novel.
Shelley was a romantic author, and therefore professed their ideals. The ideals of romantics include being an individual, even if it means going against society. This is easy to see through the monster. Also included is the idea that technology is evil, which is seen through the creation of the monster. Lastly, Shelley professes in her novel that men are not god and should not act as such, which is shown through the disgusting look of the monster, which was a creation of man.
