Caused by a protozoan that lives in fresh water and colonizes the intestinal tract of humans. People get infected by drinking fecal-contaminated water. The disease causes diarrhea and abdominal cramping. This is an emerging infectious disease that wasn't characterized until 1976
What disease is this?? Cryptosporidium perhaps?
