Wow, I saw that movie 14 years ago in 7th grade! I've seen it a few times since and remember it pretty well. I was thinking about my religious views at that point, with my Bar Mitzvah approaching, but I wasn't thinking about philosophical concepts at that level. I would love to help you analyze it now but I'm afraid that cultural philosophy wasn't really my thing (I studied metaphysics) and I don't have the familiarity with those terms to properly discuss this (there's a lot of types of ethical relativism and I don't know much about any of them and I don't know what soft universalism means, but I could make some guesses). Perhaps if you elaborate on what you mean in your question I could give you some ideas.
Great movie though. The sequal was kind of dumb.
