You could cut 10 flowers underwater and leave them in water, cut another 10 flowers out of water and then put them in water, and then cut another 10 flowers and cut them and not put them in water at all (as a control). Then you would watch them over the course of about a week or so, and take notes each day on how they are looking (their color, how droopy they are, etc.), and therefore see which method was the best for getting healthy flowers. You should try to make sure all the flowers are as similar as possible to each other, btw. -- I hope that is what you wanted
