If critical evaluation of historical evidence regarding cultures can be regarded as valid, then the available evidence supporting the existence of Jesus (for example) is more than enough (after critical analysis) to support at least the historical basis of the religion which he founded.
Of course, the tenets of most religions hinge in some way upon faith.
However, I would contend that your belief in quantum mechanics is based upon an acceptance of the accounts given by scientists to the extent to which you fully comprehend the science. The extent to which you do not fully comprehend the principals is the extent to which you have faith in the scientists' accounts.
Faith and critical thinking are not entirely independent.
