I don't think they are compatible. Religion has always had the privilege of being exempt from criticism. It is just taboo to criticize religion. We always have to be politically correct. I think this is wrong. I think religion has gotten a free ride for much to long and it's about time we get past this political correctness and have an open and honest discourse about religion. I don't feel I should be obligated to just respect people's beliefs. I evaluate their reasons for their beliefs. In what other discourse are we admonished to just respect people's beliefs without justification?
