your fathers gone, my bald headmaster said. his shiny dome and brown tobacco jar
splinterd at once in tears. it wasnt grief.
i cried for knowledge which was bitterer.
when he says "his shiny dome and brown tobacco jar." is there some symbolism there, or is he just describing the headmasters head (dome?) and whats on his desk (tobacco jar.)
.....i just dont understand why he would put that line in when in the rest of the poem he hasnt described the setting really at all .
any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated
