It can only be right or wrong according to you. It is relative to each person. You must decide. But then you must consider, if it is wrong to your roommate, then it cannot be right or wrong if two opposite views are expressed. Personal belief and universal absolutes are two different things. So, I guess your roommate is correct. Sarte and existentialism addresses this issue nicely I think.
