Gay marriage I think is very important because It represents a equality among an issue which has long been debated. Socially, it is not accepted and Psychologically its ridiculed. It represents a religious point of view conflicting with government operations.
MA is the only state which allows gay marriage, but other allow acceptance among relationships of the same sex that allow benefits to the other person.
The biggest issue that I find, is that a couple living lets say in Florida has no control over life decisions. For instance, lets say two women are in a relationship and one of them gets pregnant so they could introduce a child into their life. If the biological mother were to die, the other partner is not considered anything more than a stranger on a street as for as the relations to the child (despite the fact that the child could have bonded with it). Therefore, the gay marriage issue many times isn't about anything more than securing bonds, financial assets, and children. Which is outrageous, considering that someone may not be able to protect their property in a gay marriage.
I agree with it giving EVERYONE the option to get marriage with the same-sex, because it is unethical to deny such rights. Same sex exists widely in the animal kingdom, something we have decided to discard as being affiliated with. Gay marriage is nothing more than a religious issue emphasized for all the wrong reasons, and should not bee included in the supression of government.
