| Is depression (with diabetes) worth medicating?
My daughter is 16, she was diagnosed in 4/2004, as a Type 1. She still has not completely accepted it, she doesn't want to talk about it, she doesn't want to discuss it with anyone, she breaks down (in tears) when we have to meet with her Dr.'s or a Nutritionist, or an Educator. Her last A1C was bad, 12.2 ... so she is being bombarded with "do this & do that" ... all her previous A1C's were much better, between 6 to 9's. Everyone tells her this is just in "a temporary glitch ... it will get better." She says "what's the point?" "it's hopeless" she says she "can't do anything right" she's says she's "a loser" no matter how hard we tell her SHE'S NOT She's an emotional wreck. She is seeing a counselor ~ we've asked if she wants to change to a new one, she says no. We are sick with worry. If she can get her blood sugar levels down, will she feel better??? Or should we try to get her on some kind of medication? She's afraid of getting diabetes complications.
She does see her Endocronologist 4 x a year. We email her weekly. She saw a Nutrionist & Educator this past week. She is VERY WELL taken care of.
