It is the day of repentance/atonement.
"Is it a time to ask G-d for forgiveness?"
For sins committed against God, yes. One cannot ask God for forgiveness for sins committed against other people, though; for that, one must gain the forgiveness of the people whom one has transgressed.
"How do you know if you are forgiven?"
Well, we believe that God seals the book of life on Yom Kippur. Thus, you know by continuing to live.
"What if I was to tell you that there is a way to know for sure... What if I was to tell you that it is linked to the Passover coming next week...."
Pesach has nothing to do with forgiveness, it has to do with celebrating and retelling the story of the exodus from Egypt. |
