lymph nodes are parts of the endocrine system. Lymph nodes act as filters or traps for foreign particles and contain white blood cells. They are also cancer "hot spots" because since their job is to filter, cancerous cells that might be trying to spread get stuck there. I can't tell you what stage her cancer is, but I can tell you my mom had colon cancer and, especially if caught early, it is one of the easiest types to cure.
