| I would definitely do the social work major (I would agree that a minor in CJ or Ethnic Studies, or Woman Studies would all be good). You will probably have to go on for an MSW (which you can do in one year with a BSW). I just heard today that CA is looking to hire 500 MSW's in the prison system in the next few years and a number of my MSW graduates are now working in probation and parole. If you add in domestic violence programs and victim assistance programs - social work is the primary profession.
