| My 6 yr. old daughter always comes home from school and takes a nap. This
wouldn't be a problem but,? we spend hours on homework that should only take an hour tops. For example, today she got off the bus at 3:30 pm she started her homework right away. She read a book (10-12 pgs. 2-4 sentences per page). The teacher sends home a worksheet (4-6 questions) that goes along with the book. As of right now (6:15pm) she is still working on the worksheet. She has fallen asleep 3-4 times while doing it. She fills in the blanks with stuff that isn't related to the story or doesn't answer the question. It's not just her reading its all homework. If she doesn't fall asleep during her homework she falls asleep when she is done. She gets up at 6:30 am and goes to bed at 8:30 pm. I have tried putting her to be earlier and it dont make a difference. I feel her school work is suffering because of this. I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Any rude comments or suggestion are not welcome.
After she goes to bed 98% of the time she is asleep within 15 minutes. Homework is not useless. It is a learning tool. She also naps on the weekends so its not just during the week.
I am sure she is asleep i am up until 2am at least. School is not a new concept for her. When she was 3 she went to 1/2 day preschool, at age 4 she went to full day preschool and at 5 she went to full day kindergarten.
