Wow, I am pretty saddened by your misinformation.

I suppose you think cancer is crap because we don't have a cure? Or maybe colds don't actually exist because they are so versatile, have so many symptoms, and we don't have a cure for them either. Oh, and I bet no other diseases or disorders have ever been misdiagnosed.

Psychology is science, backed up by much hard evidence, rigorous testing, and years of research.

Additionally, it is very possible, actually probable, that young individuals with a disorder will remit by the time they are in their 20s or 30s. So what you're overlooking is that just because you are "fine" now doesn't mean that there wasn't something wrong at some point.

Something else to keep in mind is that remission doesn't always mean recovery and there may be a time/times in your life when you start to feel the way you did then.

Psychology is not crap, but the misinformation people receive from the media and other uneducated people is crap.

Why don't you consider the millions of people who have been correctly diagnosed with mental illnesses and whose lives have been saved by medication and therapy. If the doctors are so crazy, and the scientists are so crazy, why do 80% of people who enter therapy have results better than those with the same issues who never enter therapy? Why have numerous studies shown the efficacy of antidepressants and antipsychotics over placebo?

Regardless of whether or not you ever had a problem, that doesn't mean that psychology as a field, mental illnesses as afflictions, or clinical psychology/psychiatry as professions are in any way illegitimate. Perhaps if you opened your mind a little bit, you could see how helpful all of this "crap" has been.
