Some problems with your scenario. Even with electronic stimulation of brain centres, you may not get the results of mystics and holy men. It seems your "holy" brain centre can atrophy, or just not respond at all. Dawkins volunteered to try the "god helmet" and got no results at all. A Buddhist monk got stronger results by just meditating than he did with the helmet. The fact that you have a religious experience doesn't influence your choice of religion. A Buddhist will stay a Buddhist and an Atheist will say "interesting" but will not run out and join a church.
