It depends on how much financial aid you get. Your school will first apply the aid to your tuition and other charges that they have (like health fees, etc.). After these fees and tuition, most schools send you anything that is left over for you to use for other things like books, food, housing, etc. If you want to live on campus, your financial aid can be applied directly to that. Be sure that you check your award letter (if you have one yet) and see how much tuition and fees are at your school and then see how much if any money is left over. If you aren't sure how much money you are getting or can get, check with your school's financial aid office if you have already filled out a FAFSA.
If you haven't filled out your FAFSA yet, be sure to do so soon. You should be able to see what your EFC is and get a rough idea of how much you can get. I personally have a 0 EFC (yeah, we're broke over here lol), so someone like me may qualify for more aid than other people.
Be sure to check with your school's financial aid office for specific questions, they are very helpful, and are used to people (like me) calling and harassing them all the time.
