It all depends on how much of the work you can do yourself. If you can do it all then go to an auto body supply store. Some places have really cheap mis-tint paint which just didn't match what someone else needed. I have also found discount auto paint supply stores with excellent prices.
If you can't do the work you can look for a school that teaches auto body repair, or somebody that does this kind of work at home.
It will probably be different in your area, but I paid around $50 for a gallon of ready to spray paint and the total was less than $1000 to paint my '95 Oldsmobile Aurora, including body work.
