Just for a *start*, you might read this article and the references it uses. Since you're calling it the "big bang" instead of the more precise "Lambda - Cold Dark Matter Concordance Model", I might assume that you're going to need a few courses in advanced calculus and tensor math, plus a year or so of post-graduate physics.

I can also recommend "Big Bang: The Origin of the Universe" by Simon Singh.
