| Persephone. She is displayed in most stories as a timid and tragic young girl who is abducted from her mother, the goddess Demeter, by Hades. However, in a few (more interesting) retellings, she uses Hades as a stepping stool to become goddess of the Underworld. As Plato said of her, "...she is wise and touches that which is in motion." |
