| I live in the U.S., and my daughter is a Type 1. She does not get any help from the government, because her father & I can afford to pay her medical expenses. We have health insurance (from our employer) that helps with the cost. Each month we have to buy 2 types of insulin (she takes an average of 4 shots per day), needles (two different brands), testing strips, lancets for testing, glucose tablets, a glucagon kit, icing, and ketone test strips. All of this runs us (about) $200 per month ... out of our pockets. |
