Ask your doctor about getting on insulin shots. I'm a Type I Diabetic so I don't know about the pills that Type II's take, but I do know that Type II's are just insulin-resistant... so the more insulin I suppose that you 'pump in' the better!

That, and keep up with the exercising... My bloodsugar drops 180 points whenever I work out. I know the circumstances are different but exercise is the key... don't just watch what you eat, MAKE SURE he is eating healthy. Look at the nutrients and diet info on the labels of food... Avoid fruits (they have lots of sugar) eat whole grains and avoid a lot of protein.
