| Work etiquette question...? I recently started a new job as an elementary secretary, and enjoy it very much. However Im in a dilemma. As in any school, female adults are called Miss/Ms/Mrs (their last name). The security guard here began calling me "Miss Carly" to the kids (my 1st name) and it has stuck with the other adults. My last name is Brandenburg - somewhat long but not TOO complicated though I feel the other adults can't be bothered to learn/say it. None of the other adults are called by their first names. Maybe its because Im on the young side (24) but there are young teachers called by their last name, so I don’t quite understand. So my question is, should I say something? And if so, what do I say without sounding too pretentious? I am still a newbie after all. Maybe I ought to just suck it up but I don’t want this to “stick”. Im not a babysitter or a daycare worker (anymore), Im on the same level as everyone else. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks! |
