| What functions are in the Muscular System? (how does it work)?
The muscular system functions to provide skeletal movement. Muscles typically expand a joint which allows flexion, extension, etc. The way that the muscle works is through the Sliding Filament Theory. This theory acknowledges that ACh is the neurotransmitter that causes a Ca++ influx from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. In turn, this allows ATP to be converted to ADP and causes the muscle fibers to shorten.
