If the Republican Party was still the party it was under Lincoln, they'd get the black vote. If it was even the party it was in the 1950s, they'd get the black vote... But, in the 60s, when the Democratic Party gave up the "Racist" vote, Senators like Orin Hatch (Democrat at the time) changed parties to the Republican Party... So, there's a major shift of the Racist vote, through the 60s especially. While the democratic party was NOT originally the party fighting racism, when it switched alignments in the 60s, the Republican party was just too tempted with all those racist voters.

The Republican Party should put forth a Black Presidential Candidate to show the country it's no longer the party of Orin Hatch. (I believe it's grown out of it, especially the Ron Paul-ists)
