| Can someone PLEASE explain turbulence to me?? There are no bumps in the air!!!?
sure thing. do you know how airplanes fly? when they go fast enough, the wings make them go up in the air. Try this when your driving 60 mph and stick your flat hand out the window. if you tilt your hand up then your hand starts to rise with the wind. if you understood that, also know that wind is not at a constant speed. it speeds up and slows down. when this happens at a fast rate "bumps" or turbulence happens. It's all about the wind. Thats why airplanes cannot fly in space, there's no air up there. (shuttles are different, they use rockets.)
