Can someone PLEASE explain turbulence to me?? There are no bumps in the air!!!?

About turbulence, there's a pretty good explanation here: http://www.casa.gov.au/airsafe/trip/turbulen.htmAs for falling out of the sky, in a nutshell, air traveling under the wing is faster than air traveling over the wing, that provides lift. Unless a wing (or the wings) break off the plane, it cannot just drop out of the sky. Aircraft are designed in a way that they self-correct themselves.
