| Can someone PLEASE explain turbulence to me?? There are no bumps in the air!!!?
In fact there ARE bumps in the air. Turbulence is caused by a rapid series of air currents going in different directions close together. This usually happens at the edges between air masses of different properties: cooler versus warmer is the usual difference. If you will do an internet search on "turbulence," you will find lots of pictures and diagrams that will help you understand.Good luck!
