| Anyone trained/professionals out there? Can't concentrate/can't get anything done. What is this? Many details.
i am not a professional but I have a daughter who sounds just like you. It is not just mental things it is also physical in her case. Everything is tomorrow a little later. Never NOW. She is 17 instead of getting better it is getting worse. She was good with her concentration when she was young with studies. Now it is zero. A to C and D. She is not analizing the problem SHe thinks she is fine. I thought it is the age and will improve with time. I am wrong. I dont think it will. YOU do need to set time limit for yourself. Take a diary and make a not of all the things that you need to do for tomorrow. THis should be done every night before going to bed. The next morning take the diary and do one thing at a time. When you finish the task tick it off. When you finish the task for the day, you can reward yourself with whatever that pleases you. When you have to concentrate mentally you should not have anything that distracts you like if it is music that makes you not concentrate stop playing that. IF you are watching TV multi tasking dont do that. Concentrate on one thing and nothing else. If people distract you go to your own room where there is no one to bother you for a while till you finish the job. Continue to keep the diary and tick off as you go. Keep doing till you get the hang of it. You will realize for yourself when you dont need the diary anymore and you can do it automatically without the help of the diary. If that is the only way you can work and keep up continue to do that. You may not need any outside help. Just cultivating a habit that you never devoloped. Concentrating on one thing is very difficult without the mind wandering to other things is very difficult. Yoga helps to clear the mind. This is like praying. When you go to the church or temple you are supposed to think of god. People have wandering eyes looking at others how they are dressed and what they look like etc. The purpose is totally lost. So remove yourself from distraction by isolation and finish the task for the day before you feel comfortable to join a crowd and socialize. Hope this helps.
