| Could our democracy be improved?
The flaw in this system is that even the American government is not under a true democracy. The greek words that form "democracy" mean "people" and "rule". Rule by the People. Which as you know, isn't the case.No matter who the individual is that is voting, they will vote for the candidate that THEY see to be the most qualified; based on their own morals and values. Mostly religious. But for an individual who isn't religious, yes I can very well see the logic in voting for the candidate that best fits the political ideals of the individual. Another reason why this system wouldn't work in our government [or a democracy] is; How are we to determine the intelligence of an individual? I very well understand the condition of our schools/education system. [As the former student of an under-funded public school]. I'm well aware of what is being taught in our schools and the lack of determination and compassion from the teachers and students. In this government, we all have equal rights. And are all entitled to have our vote, regardless of our upbringing/background/schooling/religion or anything else that might effect our vote. That is just our rights as human being to make our own choice. And if we even aren't given that within our own country. then what do we have?Yeesh. It's bad enough it's turning into a police state. I'm more worried about the actions of someone I vote for, rather than what they believe. We have no idea until they are president. Then we see the damage that can be done.
