AwesomeCarp has a spectacular aura about
Jigsaws, duplo lego and such work. Cars or animal toys work well for creative play. Play-doh is the winner though.

For actual games it depends on the age of the children. If you're talking about 5, then there's plenty of good games, such as junior monopoly. If they're younger, maybe an animal bingo or something. It also depends on how many children there are and the age of the youngest child.

Older children will typically be prepared to be "grown up" and play more childish games then if there wasn't a younger child there.

If there are quite a few then, yes, games such as duck duck goose will work. Musical chairs, musical statues and dead lions usually work well. If you don't knoiw them, the rules can be easily googled.
