| If you believe that Jesus and God are two parts of a whole (along with the Holy Spirit) as I do, then it makes no difference who you pray to. Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father but by me (John 14:6)" so your prayers should be sent through Christ. This is why some people say "in Jesus' name" in their prayers. Also, the Holy Spirit is said to intercede for us with "groans" (Romans 8:26). I commonly speak to "Lord" when I pray. I think of Jesus as my Lord and Savior, but also think of God as Lord God Almighty. Jesus and God are two aspects of the same 'being.' Phillipians 2:1-11 tells us that Jesus is in pretty high esteem with God and should be recognized as such.
I guess that if you dont believe that they are one and the same, then your prayers should be directed to God since he is Lord over all.
I know Catholics use some verse(s) in Revelations to justify why they pray to saints, but it is a stretch to say the least. |
