We are dealing with a similar situation. We have moved to a new city for my husband's job and our old house is on the market. Since home prices are a whole lot more here than back home, there is no way that we can purchase until the old house sells. I would jot her an e-mail or give her a phone call, whichever you feel more comfortable with, and just state the facts. But remember, they may give you reasons as to why not to postpone. They only make money when they seal the deal. If you like this agent, be honest and say that when your situation changes, you would like to continue working with them. This way it won't sounds as if you are blowing them off. And you'll probably be reminded that you can't work with another buyer's agent until this contract ends. Be strong! I know it must be incredibly awkward. But what is worse, feeling a bit awkward or buying a house to keep from hurting someone's feelings?
