Your best bet would be to take an introductory class if you've never taken it before. Geography dealing with the atmosphere usually builds off principles learned in previous courses or expects previous knowledge. The fact there is no pre-req is kind of dumbfounding.
Also, if you are taking an atmosphere course with no calculations and equations, then I would question the integrity of the course. Atmospheric studies includes lots of math.
If he is skipping all equations, then question the purpose of the course and re eavluate if you need it.
