Oh mighty YA Genealogy wizards! Your favorite sites for researching French...

...Canadians, 19th Century? I've got the usual brickwall on a character named Elzeard Brusseau, (aka Edward Brusso in the US) born 1851 in Quebec, married Rose, b. 1857, (both her parents born in France.) After their kids are born in Michigan, Elzeard disappears, and Rose remarries a Sam Smart.... I've got the 1881 Canadian census and that's all I can find on Elzeard....I expect I'll have to dig, but any sites you've found useful will be appreciated.
Thanks!
itsjustme: neat info, as usual from you...I've responded...
