Ok. Do this...go to your home page. Go to the bottom of your friends section, click on chang top friends. The page that comes up should allow you to "drag" your friends into the position you want, (drag means, incase you don't know, put your pointer over your friends block hold down your left mouse key and move your mouse) At the top left a little ways down it should say something about "show...friends" choose the number you want to show.
