3x + y =9
y= -5x + 9

From the second equation, y = -5x + 9
Put this value for y into the first equation:

3x + (-5x + 9) = 9
-2x + 9 = 9
-2x = 0
x = 0

If x = 0, then
y = -5x + 9 = 0 + 9 = 9

Your solution to this system of equations is (0,9)
