Is getting high a natural urge?

Is getting high just a natural urge, like having sex or going to the toilet? (Chosen because they are also things that people also like to pretend they don't do despite everyone knowing they have to!)There are three things that have been invented by every culture throughout human history, including those that never managed to get as far as agriculture: Percussion instruments, combat sports and hallucinogenic drugs. Non-human animals have been observed to seek out rotten fruit for the alcohol it contains. And all members of the cat family enjoy the effects of catnip.Maybe getting high serves some important evolutionary function?

Feeling good is a natural urge. What you do to achieve it is not.

Um...no.Getting high is NOT a natural urge. It's a conditioned response, and among addicts, a physiological, psycological, or chemical addiction. As for combat sports...that would depend on your definition of "sport"... Unless you consider warfare a sport.Animals do not seek out rotten fruit for the alcohol content...they seek the additional sugars in the overripe fruit... the alcohol is just a "bonus". Good Luck!
