| Why do people believe that women were the one that invented/developed agriculture?
There are evidents that shows that agriculture evolved independantly in multiple places. What was done by women in one place may've been done by men in another, plus, men would eventually turn into farmers, so it doesn't seem to be a great stretch that they gathered as well.http://courses.washington.edu/anth457/agorigin.htm"Archaeological record indicates that plant & animal domestication arose independently in at least 7, and possible 9, separate locales"So why do people(especially feminist) believe that women were the one that invented/developed agriculture?"some" people. There are no factual evident that proves that women were the one that developed agriculture. There are however evident that shows that agriculture were developed in multiple places.Doesn't bother me spuddy, I'm asking out of curiosity.@Tracey: The truth hurt you, doesn't it?

They stupid. Agriculture was invented by man. Man taste the plant and then tell his woman to pick it. Man invented it but made woman do the work as he was most likely hunting.

| Why do people believe that women were the one that invented/developed agriculture?
In traditional hunter-gather societies men hunt while woman forage and gather fruits, nuts and vegetables. In Yanomamo society in South America women also tend gardens. Since woman concentrated on gathering vegetable matter while men hunted it is only logical that they were the first in agriculture.

| Why do people believe that women were the one that invented/developed agriculture?
For the same reason some men like to believe it was only men who invented agriculture. Clearly, it was a joint effort by several unconnected civilisations, rather than either gender on its own :-)

| Why do people believe that women were the one that invented/developed agriculture?
Jake has hit the nail on the head. Women were most often the ones who gathered plant matter for food, so logically they would have been the ones who came up with agriculture. And no, it's not just feminists that believe this. Most anthropologists, who have done extensive research into human history, believe this as well. Until someone has any evidence to logically refute this theory, it will be accepted as true by the academic community since it makes the most logical sense.

The suggestion of the evidence we do have is very great. It may be a blow to your ideological position, but that women invented agriculture us almost surely true. You confuse fact and evidence.
