Is the near term integrity of US military ground forces near the breaking point?

According to Army Vice Chief of Staff General Richard Cody in testimony before Congress it is.

He noted these three contingencies:

1. We can change course now and save everyone a lot of trouble.

2. We can maintain our current course in Iraq and watch the Army disintegrate as it did during and after Vietnam.

3. We can institute the Draft.

This is not a left/right issue. It is a very practical appraisal of a dangerous situation.

I think you should check your sources. I highly doubt a military general would get involved in politics like that.

I want to see a transcript of that testimony.

I come from a military family, if we continue our presence in Iraq our military will suffer. Recruiting numbers are down which is one of the reason for long assignments in Iraq--our involvement in Iraq MUST come to an end nothing will be accomplished until this action take place.
