Can't complete BMT, automatic Dishonorable Discharge?? Someone told me this, but it can't be true, I mean, Dishonorable discharge for not being able to adapt is a little harsh, is this true? By the way, what does happen if someone can't finish or complete their training?

I don't think you can just leave because you don't like it. I think you will have to do something illegal such as smoke weed in front of an officer (someone I know did that) to get out and that would cause a dishonorable discharge.

Depends on what they failed for. If they failed because they could not hit a target, pass the PT test, or just not understand concepts, then no. If they get a failure to adapt for "refusal to train" or AWOL, then possibly. It comes down to weather or not they try to do it. If they try and just fail, nothing happens, its a Entry Level Speration. Even in a worst case for failure to adapt (AWOL or something) a lot of places don't do it because its too much trouble, but it is possible. The people running the training have better things to do then spend time on a refusal to train or AWOL.

When I couldn't complete basic over 20 years ago, it was called an entry level separation. It was comparable to a general discharge with honorable conditions. As far as what happens, basically nothing. I was sent to a transient unit and waited until the paperwork was complete. I was in that unit for about 3 weeks.
