Why don't more people desert the US military?

I know, the numbers are rising in an incredible speed, giving that those deserters don't want to fight for Bush's personal interests anymore and have a problem with raping, murdering and torturing innocent people. Finally someone who listens to their conscience, instead of following blindly a fascist leader. God bless you all and I hope you know that all peaceloving people are supporting you!

I want you to know that I don't fight to defend your freedom. I fight for my family to have the confidence to walk down the street and not be afraid that a bomb will go off because cowards refuse to even acknowledge that there are terrorists who want to see our American way of life taken from us. I don't care about your right to condemn what I do for a living. I care about my family, and my country.
Why don't you ask why more people aren't deserting civilian life? There are more alcohol related injuries accidents, and murders than in the military. Certain cities have more gun deaths per month than the military, and the drug problems are incomparable. Also, did you know that most soldiers have a high school diploma? How many adult civilians can that be said about?
Stop trashing the military until you can fix your civilian problems. I am doing my part by making sure my children graduate high school, and know the consequences of alcohol or gun related crimes.

I completely agree with you... and I'm sick of being told to thank the military for my freedom of speech. The military is doing nothing in the world right now that has any impact on my freedom, it's only taking it away from others for economic benefit. I have so much respect for anyone who goes against orders to refuse to kill and hurt others.
